As you read this, Transplant Team AZ is traveling back to Arizona after a week at the Transplant Games in San Diego. This year, Team AZ was represented by 22 competitors and more than 40 supporters. Our team did amazingly in the competitions and is bringing home 57 medals, with 37 of those being gold. More importantly, many relations were developed and strengthened at this event. We heard stories from donors, recipients, and donor family members. Each story is touching and special in its own way, and each story has the result of adding valuable years to a person’s life. Among the costumes, parades, competitions, and medals, the focus is on honoring the gracious and selfless acts that donors and donor families make and celebrating the new life of the grateful recipients.
